James (Jim) Edgley Obituary

Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle, James (Jim) Bartley Edgley, passed away in his home in Monticello, Florida on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 85.
Jim was born in Parma, Ohio on March 12, 1939, to Floyd and Ruth Edgley. He grew up and held many jobs, but the ones he talked about the most were owning his own welding shop, owning a country arts and crafts store, toy maker, go-kart engine builder, glass installer, and finishing carpenter. Jim had many interests and stayed actively involved in the things he loved to do like spending time with his family and friends. He loved all things racing from motorcycles, stock cars, go-karts, and RC cars. He loved to fish, travel, go camping, fly his RC airplanes and ride his motorcycle. After his retirement he started making wood toys again and this brought him so much joy. He loved to see the kids' faces light up when they got one of his toys. He lived his life to the fullest and would always tell his family that he led a full life and did so many things that most people only dreamt about. He was one of the kindest and sweetest people you could have ever met. He truly was loved by many people. Although Jim is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Ruth Edgley; brothers: Charles (Chuck) Edgley and Floyd Edgley; daughter, Shirley Burroughs; daughter-in-law, Sandra (Sandy) Edgley; and grandson, Paul Edgley.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Edgley of Lake City, Florida; sons: Floyd Edgley of Graham, North Carolina, and James Edgley (Sonia) of Lake Butler, Florida; daughter, Candy Edgley Hughes (Dixon) of Monticello, Florida; former wife, Peggy Edgely of Monticello, Florida; grandchildren: Becky Douglas (Allen), Justin Tyre, James "JM" Albritton (Dorrie), Ashley Rutledge (Austin), Jake Edgley (Maggie), and Lacey Edgley (Shay); and great grandchildren: Jasmine Douglas, Tanner Rutledge, Brody Albritton, Cohen Albritton, Lorelei Tyre, Atticus Edgley, and Liam Gamble.

Jim helped me to build my house. He was a "character" who will always be remembered with fondness.
