Michael Wendle Nettles, 61, McAlpin, FL passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021. The Lake City, FL-born native lived in McAlpin for thirty years. Mr. Nettles loved his country and served in the U.S. Navy for seven years, he was a Godly man and a lifelong member of Live Oak Church of God. Mr. Nettles was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, going on cruises, hunting and fishing with his family, and working on the family farm with his father, brothers, sons, and nephews. Mr. Nettles was full of life and was always looking for the next adventure. He was a selfless and kind man, who treated everyone that he met with the utmost respect and courtesy. Mr. Nettles also loved athletics and Florida State Football. Mr. Nettles spent many years coaching the youth of Branford, FL in football and baseball and was also the "Voice of the Bucs" announcing the Branford High School football games on Friday nights for many years. Mr. Nettles was a kind and loving husband and a wonderful father to his two sons. Most importantly, Mr. Nettles loved his family immensely and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. Mr. Nettles adored his grandbabies and made every effort to be there for them in every way possible.
Mr. Nettles is survived by his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, and his wife of forty-two years: Pamela Nettles, McAlpin, FL; parents: Wendle and Blanche Nettles, Lake City, FL; sons: Travis Nettles (Lindsay), Mcalpin, FL; Tyson Nettles (Leah), O'Brien, FL; brother: Andy Nettles (Lisa), Lake City, FL; brother-in-laws: Greg Hicks (Angel), McAlpin, FL, T.J. Hicks, Mcalpin, FL; sister-in-law: Dee Nettles, Rapid City, SD; grandchildren: Bristol, Layla, Abbott, Matthew, Adele, Tanner, and Freya; A host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and many other children throughout his life that called him "Dad" that he treated with the same care and compassion as he did his own children.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 23rd at Live Oak Church of God with Rev. Ken Henderson, Rev. Wes Tanksley, and Mrs. Teresa Brannon officiating. Interment will be held at Leona Cemetery. There will be visitation held on Friday, October 22nd at Daniels Funeral Home in Live Oak, FL from 5:00-7:00 pm.
