Norman J. Van Den Bussche

Norman Julius Van Den Bussche, born on July 10, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, departed this world, on November 17, 2023. At time of death he resided in Grayslake, Illinois, and passed peacefully at The Pearl, Crystal Lake, Illinois, in the presence of his loving wife of 70 years and 10 months, Joan Van Den Bussche.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Van Den Bussche, his brother Robert, and his daughter in law Laura Jill Van Den Bussche (Harris). Norm is survived by his sons; Rich (Sue) Van Den Bussche and Norm (Janet) Van Den Bussche, 1 grandchild the daughter of Rich and his deceased wife Jill, Jennifer Kubat (Tony) 3 great grandchildren, Grace Kubat, Charlotte Kubat and Vivian Kubat.
Norm enlisted in the United State Army on September 28, 1948 at the age of 17, and served a three-year term rising to the rank of Seargent First Class of Artillery. Norm did basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas and was then stationed overseas in England. Norm was honorably discharged on September 27, 1951.
Norm was proud to have served in the Army Artillery and to have served his country.
Upon discharge from the Army, Norm returned to Chicago, Illinois, where he met Joan Jakubczyk, of Chicago, Illinois. Norm and Joan were married on January 4, 1953.
Norm was a Meatcutter who had apprenticed in his father's shop, where he worked upon return from the service, later moving on to work at several major chain grocery stores and private businesses.
He loved his family and friends and enjoyed many reunions with his army buddies from Battery C 30th Artillery.
The family wishes to thank The Pearl of Crystal Lake for the care and compassion they provided Norm and the family during his stay at their facility. They allowed him a peaceful passing.
Norm was humble, kind and a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed.
A private service is being planned for a later date.
