John Doubek Obituary

John Alan Doubek

May 13, 1942 - January 4, 2025

John Alan Doubek , age 82, of Fontana, WI, died on January 4, 2025.

John was born in Berwyn, IL, to John Doubek, Jr. and Mae Hosticka Doubek. He was the valedictorian of his Riverside-Brookfield High School Class of 1960 and went on to earn B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Northwestern University. After graduate school, he joined his father at the Doubek Cookie Company in Broadview, IL. As company president, he initiated operational changes and product innovations that substantially increased profitability. An avid sailor, John moved his family to Lake Geneva, WI, in 1980 where he and his children competed in the fleets at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club. After selling the family business John continued his passion of collecting vintage audio equipment, even opening a store in the Lake Geneva area. He was known for his friendly nature and infectious humor. He is survived by his brother Robert W. Doubek of Washington, DC, his son Jeffrey Alan Doubek (Rebecca) of Wyomissing, PA, his daughter Jennifer Lynn Doubek of Madison, WI, and grandchildren Ava Isabella, Max Edward, and Charlie Mae, as well as his life partner Pamela Pettrone. A celebration of his life will be held on a date to be determined, and donations in his honor can be made to Geneva Lake Sailing School (www.glss.org) and American Friends of the Czech Republic (www.afocr.org).
