Christopher Hill

Lancaster - Christopher "Chris" Hill, age 70, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2018, ending his courageous battle with lung disease and multiple cancers. He was born on September 5, 1948 in Lancaster to the late Joel and Helen C. "Nellie" (Bininger) Hill. Chris retired as a Custodian at Bloom-Carroll Schools on May 1, 2014 and was also a long time employee at both Diamond Electronics as an Electronics Engineer and E. Ralph Sims, Jr. and Associates as a Design Draftsman. Chris was a 1968 Lancaster High School graduate and an Honorably Discharged U. S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce (Wasem) Hill of Lancaster, son Christopher (Christina) Hill of Thornville, grandson Lucas Hill of Thornville; sister Karen Hill, brothers Patrick and Richard Hill all of Lancaster; Father and Mother-in-law Lloyd and Betty Wasem, Sister-in-law Susan (James) George, Sister-in-law Penny (Eric) Hubbard all of Lancaster, nephew James (Lucie) George of Boston, nephews Matthew (Brittnee) George and Clark Hubbard both of Lancaster; nieces Sarah (Bryan) Hartman and Olivia Hubbard both of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his father Joel Hill, his mother Helen "Nellie" Hill, and his sister Michele Hill.

Chris was a loving, generous, devoted family man and friend. He enjoyed outdoor activities and creative projects, ceramics, legos, sports, volunteering, special time with his grandson Lucas, and quality time with friends and family. Chris was blessed with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 7th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm, to 8:00pm at the Sheridan Funeral Home in Lancaster. Per his request, there will be no service and a private burial in Amanda Twp. Cemetery with military honors.

We would like to thank the numerous doctors and staff at Fairfield Medical Center; the 17th floor doctor, special teams and staff at OSU James Cancer Hospital; and the wonderful staff at Pickering House for their care and compassion. Special thanks go out to his dedicated doctors and specialists in Lancaster: Dr. Jill Rice, Dr. Jarrod Bruce and Dr. K. Singh for their perseverance during his difficult and rare illnesses. Thanks to close friends and family who accompanied his wife Joyce on her daily trips to Columbus; and to the BOE staff for their friendship and support throughout these most trying times.
