Nathaniel Hill Obituary

Nathaniel (Nate) Hill

LANCASTER: Nathaniel (Nate) Hill, 78, of Lancaster, OH, died Thursday, April 24th, at the Pickering House, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving over 20 years in the United States Air Force, from which he completed a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, and never having been passed over for a promotion. Nate continued to be involved in many military-related organizations throughout his retirement including founder and president of the national TAC Tankers Association, past president of the Retired Armed Forces Association and Olivedale Veterans. His last military assignment was commander of the induction center at Fort Hayes in Columbus. He began his second career in the already established Hill's Fabrics and Sewing Machines Store where he worked side-by-side with his family for over 15 years serving Fairfield County in various organizations and contributing to the community he loved. Among those were Kiwanis and the Masonic Lodge. In addition he was a very active member at First United Methodist church where he gave generously of himself.

Natalie, his wife of 12 years, survives him along with his children Holly Siegel, Margie (Roger) Donnell and Nate Hill (Cliff Wynne); stepchildren Robyn (Dana) Dewitt, Randi (Jim) Pinkepank, and Roy Clement along with eight step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Talitha (Tillie) Hill, second wife, Margie Bauman, son-in-law, Richard Siegel, parents Leon and Margaret Hill and sister Mary Elizabeth (Rajmond) Klekot.

WE knew Nate through the Reunion Planners trips of which we made several with Nate and Natalie. We were always glad to see them again when we got together on several trips. Loved them both and just came across his business card tonight and thought I would check on his status. I also retired from the Air Force in 1984 as a MSgt and we will always remember them.

Natalie...
I was so sad to hear about Nates passing. I wasn't even aware he had been staying in Pickering House. I remember so well when you and Nate would prepare your motor home for yet another venture together. You see I've known Nate for at least 20 years..and I've known you in his life since the first time I repaired your dishwasher! I was your neighbor just at 219 King St. You both looked so happy I saw you both taking your walks. I'm sorry I lost touch with you and Nate when I moved out of of town about 2 years ago. I enjoyed our talks and I'll always remember how he could be very serious and in the next moment adding humor to conversation. Last but not least...Your name Natalie and Nate were so easy to remember. A very loving couple always smiling. I'll miss him Natalie. Let God provide him the wind beneath his wings and the eagles be his wingmen as he soars to heaven to join others like him

Dear Natalie, It is so sad to know that the Tanker Assoc. has lost the booming voice of a great leader. We will always remember the great love Nate had for all his fellow fliers and crewmen. Pete was hoping to tell him in Valley Forge that Nate was right and that he won the bet regarding fabric or metal on the rudder. He even took a picture to show Nate that indeed it was fabric. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. May his memory be eterna.

Margie! It was such a shock to see of Nate's passing this morning. We just returned from Florida. Every time Bob played at First Methodist Church I usually had Nate exchange some gold dollars for my paper ones. Such a delight man. I know he will be missed by all with his wonderful smile.
