Oscar A. Armas

LANCASTER: Oscar A. Armas, 70, of Lancaster passed away on July 25, 2016. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 6pm and 8pm at Sheridan Funeral Home, 222 S Columbus St, Lancaster where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30pm. Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 132 S High St, Lancaster, Fr. Craig Eilerman, Celebrant. Inurnment following at St. Mary Cemetery.

Oscar was born in Escuintla, Guatemala on February 15, 1946. He married Rebecca on December 12, 1970. Oscar worked for, and retired from Ralston Foods and was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Oscar was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Oscar is preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe, father, Salvador, and brother, Salvador.

Oscar is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca; sons Oscar L. Armas and Marco (Michelle) Armas; daughter Clarisa (Nick) Graham and the grandchildren he adored, Brandon, Gabriella, and Ethan Graham as well as numerous extended family members.

The family of Oscar would like to thank the team of doctors, nurses, and Chaplin of Fairfield Medical Center for their noble efforts and compassion. They would also like to thank The Lazarus Committee of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Oscar's family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Alfredo Armas was truly one of the kindest, honest and pleasant men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. In the 30 years he was my loving Brother- in- law I never saw him get angry, say a cross word or speak ill of anyone. Alfredo you were truly a good man who walked around us all with a smile on your face and An angel on your shoulder. Alfredo you will truly and genuinely be missed by all who new and loved you!!! Goodbye my beloved friend, til we meet again. May God be with your loved ones at this time of great loss.

I am a friend of Jenny Gonzalez, and I had the pleasure of meeting the Armas family a few years ago. They were always so welcoming and warm, and I am distraught to learn of their loss. I fondly remember a bunch of us going to a Columbus Crew soccer game, and Mr. Armas proudly waving his Guatemalan flag and cheering. They weren't even playing Guatemala. Thank you for such great memories - sending my prayers and love to Rebecca, Oscar, Isa and Marco and the rest of his amazing family!
