Timothy McMillen Obituary

Timothy David McMillen

ZANESVILLE: Timothy David McMillen, 64, of Zanesville, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born on January 25th, 1947, the son of the late F.H. "Ace" and Doris (Hammack) McMillen of Lancaster. He worked for Ohio Bell/Ameritech and retired after working 30 years; then he worked for PSSI, and retired completely in December 2009. He also volunteered with Perry Township Fire Department for many years, serving both as a fireman and EMT. He loved cooking, traveling, reading, woodworking, & photography, and was renowned for his homemade pies. Tim proudly served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam, and was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Magers) McMillen, originally of Cambridge; son, Dr. Douglas McMillen of Decatur, Georgia, daughter, Amanda McMillen, Esq. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son, Russell McMillen of Columbus; brother, Steven (& Beverly) McMillen of Little River, South Carolina; sister, Cynthia (& Robert) Beiter of Lancaster; brother-in-law, David Magers of Columbus; nephew, Robert (& Jen) Beiter of Logan; niece, Lauren (& Matt) Kitchen of Cincinnati, and niece, Megan (& Aaron) McCafferty of Lancaster. The family is being served by the BRYAN & SNIDER FUNERAL HOME, 2318 Maple Ave., where visitation will be Friday, November 11th, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Service will be Saturday, November 12th at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service, with Rev. Dr. Herbert Hicks officiating. Committal service with full military honors will follow the service at St. Paul Cemetery in Sonora, and afterward there will be a gathering at the Perry Township firehouse. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions be made to the Perry Township Fire Department.
