David Bidstrup Obituary

David Charles Bidstrup 1940- David C. Bidstrup went to join his Heavenly Father August 15, 2025 while surrounded by family at his home in Lakewood, CO.

Dave was raised and attended school in Laramie WY. At age 17 he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Lincoln, NE where he met and married Claireen Walls. Virginia, Valerie and Troy soon joined the family. After discharge from the Air Force the family moved to Chicago where Dave attended DeVry University and was then hired by United Airlines. After a year in Chicago they moved to Denver. After his first marriage ended, Dave met and married Julie Spiller, and Kelly Ann was born the following year. Dave was licensed to fly in 1973, but with a young family decided to pursue aircraft maintenance instead. He retired from United in 1994.

Dave was one of those lucky few who knew from a young age that he wanted to fly and work with aircraft. From his beginnings with the Air Force to his career at United, he was able to live his dream. It appears his love of flight was infectious as his son maintains and programs aircraft simulators and two of his grandchildren are pilots!

Dave was pre-deceased by his parents, Richard and Lois Bidstrup of Laramie, and his sister Babe Blair of Laramie. He is survived by his wife, Julie Spiller of Denver, his sisters Lindy Miller and Christy Bidstrup of Laramie, his brother Dan Bidstrup of Laramie and Arvada and his four children, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many other relatives.
