Celia Varela Obituary
She was born on September 29, 1933 to Santiago Encinias and Sofia Rivera in Maxwell, N.M.
A Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Sofia Encinias; sons, Rudy Varela and Raymond Varela; daughter Patsy Lucero; infant daughter Manuelita Varela; son-in-law Frank Lucero; special friend Joe Garcia.
She is survived by her sons, Pat Varela (Rita) of Las Vegas, N.M., Anselmo Varela (Geri) of Espanola, N.M., Jimmy "Tion" Varela (Juanita) and Bobby Varela all of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters, Elizabeth Quintana (Gene) of Rawlins, Wyo., Roseann Vigil (Gilbert) of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughter-in-law Thelma Varela of Las Vegas, N.M.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. with Father Rob Yaksich as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M. with the following as Pallbearers, Estevan Varela, Michael Vigil, Gene Quintana, Raymond Varela, Christopher Varela and Marcus Varela.

We were saddened to hear of her passing. We use to work with her at the inn of the santa fe trail and knew the family well. Our condolences to the family. Your all in our prayers

I was saddened to hear of Celia's passing. I knew her practically all my life as she helped babysit me and my brothers and sisters. May she rest in peach. She was a very sweet lady. May God comfort her family.
