Jimmy Griego

1969 - 2021

Jimmy Griego, born and raised in Guadalupita, NM, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021 at the age of 51.
Jimmy was born on May 22, 1969. He graduated from Mora High School, Class of 1987.
He served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1991. After a career in the trucking industry in Albuquerque, N.M. He moved back home to Guadalupita, N.M. He married Susan Sept. 10, 2005.
Jimmy lived life with a smile and knew that it was for a good time, not a long time. His good-naturedness, infectious smile, unconditional love and true friendship will be missed.
To say that he would've given his shirt off his back for a friend is a true testament to his character. Genuine concern and a willingness to help those he loved was a way of life for Jimmy. Having an angry word to say about anybody was not in Jimmy's disposition, to have known him and been in the grace of his kind heart, was a privilege. He will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Mary Griego; godparents, Albino and Berna Griego; brother's-in-law, Michael Olivas and Ronald Martinez; nephews, Justin Alcon and Bailey E. Chavez.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Susan Griego; daughter Angela Lopez (Jesse IV); son Adrian Lopez; grandchildren, Jacob, Jasper and Jesse V; brother Alfonso "Ford" Griego (Vanessa); sisters, Betty Griego, Martha (Carlos) Bustos, Jeanette (Eddie) Alcon, Loretta Griego, Anita (Vidal) Quintana, Ursula (Mike) Hurtado, Rosita (Johnny) Trujillo and Margarita (Travis) Vigil; godsons, John John Trujillo, Travis Martinez, Lorenzo Chavez, James Romero, Alejandro Cañez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, N.M. with Father Fred Alexander S.O.L.T. as celebrant.
Due to COVID-19 attendance is limited, masks must be worn.
Interment will follow at the Griego Family Cemetery in Guadalupita, N.M. with the following serving as Pallbearers, Wyatt Herrera, Danny Alcon, Mark Montoya, Sydney Griego, Ivan Santiestevan and Amos Espinoza. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Chavez, Alfonso "Ford" Griego and Adrian Lopez.
