Joe Padilla Obituary
He is was born in Sapello, N.M., on Dec. 11, 1930 to parents Manuel Padilla and Manuelita Padilla.
A Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was a lifetime cattle rancher and dairy farmer and retired from the Luna Vocational Tech Institute as a security guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maria Cipriana Sanchez; sister Viviana Sandoval, granddaughter Michele Sandoval and great-granddaughter Elisa Mercedes Padilla.
He is survived by daughter Dorothy Sandoval (Ernest); sons Billy Padilla (Renee), Lee Max Padilla (Becky), Mickey Padilla (Cheryl), Eli Padilla (Margaret) and daughters Frances Martinez (Orlando) all of Sapello, NM; Ida Sue (Roderick) of Las Vegas; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister Alice Alcon of Mora, N.M.; brothers-in-law Reymundo Sandoval of Oklahoma, Tony Sanchez (Joann) of Rio Rancho, N.M.; George Maes of Colo.; sisters-in-law Teddy Gallegos (Benerito) of Las Vegas, Maria Herrera of Las Vegas, Lena Trujillo of Colo., Jenny Sandoval of Anton Chico, N.M., Elsie Sanchez of Albuquerque; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary service will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 8 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A funeral service to be conducted immediately after the rosary with Father Rob Yaksich as celebrant.
Interment will take place at San Jose Cemetery in Tewa, N.M., with casket bearers Ernesto Sandoval, Bryant Padilla, Michael Padilla, Patricio Padilla, Armando Martinez and Nathaniel Martinez
Serving as honorary bearers will be Tristan Padilla, Aaron Padilla and Joseph Sandoval. Special thanks to Vida Encantada Nursing Home and NMBHI –Meadows Aspen.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Building Foundation, 403 Valencia St., Las Vegas, NM, 87701.
