Alexander Rebar Obituary

July 9, 1940 - November 19, 2021 Screenwriter, actor, producer, blues musician, voice dubber for European films, champion dart player, Navy photographer's mate and Incredible Melting Man Alexander John Rebar (Alex) finally lived his last life, passing away at his home in Glendale, California on November 19th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his much beloved wife, Opera Director Barbara Karp, in 2003.

As a boy he grew up riding horses on a farm in Dallas, Pennsylvania. As a man, he rode the french new wave cinema scene and jazz clubs from Paris to Rome before settling down in Los Angeles, California to write, produce, and act in motion pictures. While making regular television appearances to pay the bills he wrote and produced some astonishingly infamous cult films such as "Beyond the Door," Santa Claus killer "To All a Good Night," "Demented," and Thanksgiving horror film, "Home Sweet Home." He was abducted by drug-addled hippies and taken into the "Microscopic Liquid Subway to Oblivion" in 1970 then after returning from a trip to Saturn in 1977 he contracted a rare skin disease which caused him to melt uncontrollably and thus became "The Incredible Melting Man."

He also found time to become a champion on the dart playing circuit as well as to haunt numerous blues and jazz clubs up and down the San Fernando Valley with his Alex Rebar 'Blues in the Night' band. Rarely taking himself too seriously, always looking at the brighter side of life, Alex's energy and wry sense of humor will be desperately missed by all who met him or were fortunate enough to spend some time with him.

He wanted everyone to know that "It was a hell of a ride" and that instead of having a memorial, "everyone should just go home, crack open a bottle of wine, and listen to 'Got My Mojo Workin' by Muddy Waters." We will miss you, Alex!
