Andrew Furuyama Obituary

January 11, 1985 - August 5, 2022 (37), born in Mission Viejo, CA on January 11, 1985, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2022, in Los Angeles. He is survived by his beloved wife Kimberly (Gee) Furuyama; parents Jim and Kay Furuyama; brothers Steven (Deborah) and Jonathan (Amy) Furuyama; uncles and aunts Ken (Suellyn) Kambara, Kim (Jim) Dorman, Kary Kambara, Chiyeko (Jeff) Sutter, Kenkichi (Lila) Furuyama, Emiko Sherman and predeceased by Grace Umemoto. He is also survived by a nephew, nieces, and many other relatives.
Andrew grew up in Mission Viejo, graduating from Capistrano Valley High School (2003). He studied Japanese and received a B.A. from San Francisco State University. Throughout his studies, Andrew developed a passion for Japanese culture and loved sharing his knowledge with others. He had a successful career in banking, working at Wells Fargo and later Sunwest Bank. Andrew was an active member of his church, faithfully serving on the worship team. In June 2017, Andrew was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer and battled hard for five years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service, to be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022. For more information and to RSVP, please visit andrewfuruyama.com.
