Andrew STEIN Obituary

STEIN, Andrew D. "Andy" Aug. 5, 1939 - Dec. 13, 2009 Andy Stein, age 70, died on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills from cancer. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Rebecca Davis-Stein, daughters, Debra Stein and Julie Stein, son, Anthony Stein and his wife, Yoko Stein, stepchildren, Jeffrey Davis and Rachael Davis and granddaughter, Allison Stein. A Los Angeles native, Andy was the only child of George and Grace Stein. He attended Los Angeles High School and Los Angeles Community College before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from his beloved University of Southern California in 1960. From a very young age, Andy knew he wanted to be an attorney and in 1963, he obtained a LL.D from Loyola University School of Law and in 1964, he was admitted to the California Bar. Over the past 45 years, Andy practiced civil litigation in Los Angeles, trying over 250 jury trials and took great joy in mentoring numerous young attorneys. Up until his death, Andy and his wife, Rebecca, practiced together at Andrew D. Stein & Associates, Inc., in Los Angeles. Throughout his life, Andy gave his time and talents generously and enthusiastically to his family, friends and colleagues. Aside from his family, friends and the practice of law, Andy loved USC football, his beloved pets, Vito, Gracie and Prophet (the Defendants) and hot fudge sundaes. No funeral service will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to a favorite charity. Fight on Andy, we love and miss you.

Dear Rebbeca,
Tony and Yoko,Rachael,and Jeff,
I am so sorry for your loss. Andy loved you all dearly, and he knew that you gave him unconditional love. The last 15 years were the best for him due to your presence in his life. I'll miss his wise cracks, yet know that Mike and he are sharing those LA High School stories again and laughing until they cry. They are watching USC and UCLA football, routing for their team, and bragging about which team is the best. May this new year 2010 bring you comfort from your many family members and devoted friends.
Be strong and know you are strong; Andy set the bar high. Go after your goals and achieve them one by one. He was so proud of this family.

Dear Rebecca and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Andy as he was my oldest friend as you know and I practically grew up at his house and Grace was my second mother. Our wishes for peace are with you all
