Arlene Glazman Obituary

Arlene B. Glazman June 12, 1933 - November 10, 2022

Arlene died peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at home, after a battle with lung cancer and COPD, surrounded by her family.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Leon M. Glazman, children, Denise Glazman Sample and Wayne Glazman, her son-in-law Chris Sample, and grandchildren, Mitchell, and Jessica Sample, as well as cousins and many devoted friends.

Arlene was born in Los Angeles on June 12, 1933. She attended Beverly Hills High and went on to UCLA to become a teacher and then a Master Teacher. Later, she went back to UCLA to study Landscape Design. Many lucky homeowners have wonderful, successful gardens created on her Earth Art Landscaping drawing board.

Arlene found time for gracious entertaining, giving advice on outfits to help friends look their best, eating well, culture through lectures, films both foreign and domestic, concerts, theater, opera and more. She was a member of two ongoing book clubs, took dozens of classes in the arts, and was dedicated to political action. Arlene loved to travel and explore the world and also enjoyed local travels with the Mammoth group of four, exploring the brunch scene with the Brunch Bunch of Four, and analyzing her neighborhood with the Palisades Group. Even with all this there was still time for her public service including the League of Women Voters, Venice Library English Conversation Classes for new residents, Jewish Family Service and their Designer Kitchen visits, and many more.

It all adds up to 89 years of a long life, well-lived and well-loved.
