Arnold D. Burk

April 8, 1932 - December 10, 2017 Arnold Burk passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 at home in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by family and loved ones. Loving husband, father, friend, partner and gifted natural psychologist. An amazing and brilliant lawyer. Honorable. Trusted. Reliable. Wise, intelligent and knowledgeable. Beloved by all who knew him. He was generous and precise with a superb sense of humor. His first wife, Judy (Sandler) Burk, predeceased him. He is survived by his second wife, Kathy (Soule) Burk, sons Bernard Burk (Amy Kaufman Burk) and David Burk (Rebekah Kaplan), as well as grandchildren Anschel, Jared, Ariela, Ezra and Emmet Burk. Awarded a full scholarship to Columbia College and Law School, he was the first attorney at United Artists. He had a long career at Hollywood studios (UA, Paramount Pictures), and in private legal practice for many prominent clients in entertainment, including Milos Forman, Sherwood Schwartz, John Rich, George Miller and Michael Mann. He practiced for 20 years at Gang, Tyre, Ramer and Brown in Los Angeles, a time he characterized as the happiest of his professional life.
