Arnold Newman Obituary

July 9, 2016 Arnold Newman died unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 9th at the age of 89. A native of Los Angeles, he was predeceased by his parents, Minnie and Morris Newman, his brother Emanuel and his daughter Elise. Survived by wife Judith, son Marc and daughter-in-law Sary. A veteran of World War II, and a graduate from Los Angeles H.S., he received a BS degree in Finance from the University of Southern California. He married his beloved wife, Judith Alpert, in 1952. They happily raised two children, Marc and Elise. He is remembered by his children as a fun-loving Dad, who always created memorable family celebrations. He enjoyed his career of 31 years as a stockbroker. A plaque from his colleagues reads "A legend in his own time". These words ring true in his professional and personal life. Loved by his family and friends, he will be remembered for his easy-going manner, patience, generosity, intellect and his enduring ability to listen to others with his heart. He had a memorable sense of humor, a very quick wit and a gift for words. He enjoyed travel, good restaurants, Broadway musicals and theater, daily chocolate, and all sports, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers and his most favorite of all, horse racing. He was a loyal, true and life-long friend. Eager to learn new things, he began piano lessons at the age of 75! From Marc, Elise and Sary: "You were the best Dad. We will love you forever." From Judith, his adoring wife: "Arnie, I always told you. Loving you is as easy as pie."
