Arthur Schwimmer Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death on January 11, 2024, of Arthur Erwin Schwimmer, much beloved husband of Arlene Colman Schwimmer, loving and devoted father and grandfather. Arthur was a highly respected appellate attorney who was renowned for his skilled briefs and arguments at various Courts of Appeal in the State of California and beyond. He was a lawyer's lawyer. A graduate of Columbia University in New York City, he received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1964. He was licensed to practice in the States of California and New York, at the Supreme Courts of California and New York, at the United States Customs Court and at the Supreme Court of the United States. Arthur was a good friend to many, brought warmth, humor, curiosity and intelligence to every interaction, and had the rare gift of making everyone he met feel seen. Because they were. He was an exercise addict, a crossword aficionado, a Jeopardy enthusiast, an English and language grammarian, an amazing pianist, and a classical music nerd. Arthur will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. The family requests that any donations made in memory of Arthur be sent to the American Heart Association.
