Barry was the best man at my wedding back in 1963 when we were in the Army together at Fort Dix. I lost track of him but met up with him in New York.
I am sorry to hear that he has passed and sorry I didn't know abut this until almost 10 years later.

Although it had been decades since I'd seen Barry I was indeed saddened to learn of his passing, hoping, as I always did, that our paths would cross again. We were both drafter into the army from Washington DC - we left on the same day for secpmdaru traomomg at Fr/ Dimx remember picking him up in a taxi). He was such an attractive guy -one of the most confident t and "coolest" I've ever known. The last time we met he gave me a ride on his motorcycle - I think it was in the Hamptons.
I'm a musician by trade and I seem to recall we both worked in the entertainment division .
I send you all my condolences lo these many years later.

We were roommates when we attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1959. He was great fun and a good friend and afraid of nothing.

I remember Alex and Gillian when they were
little girls. Barry and I forged a friendship that went beyond the many TV spots we shot together. He was not only a brilliant professional, he was one of my greatest friends. I missed him during our years of mutual absence, and I will miss him forever. Jeane Bice

On a shoot, Barry walked into my motel room only to find me half naked on the floor with the on camera talent. He said nothing and walked out. The next morning he pulled me aside and said, "Neither of us will talk to anyone about this. Understand?" I nodded my head. "But if do ever decide to regale anyone about your little escapade -- it'd better be me." I missed the chance to have dinner with him in LA ten years ago. I deeply regret that.

I can't say that Barry taught me everything I know because we haven't worked together in years. But, he gave me the most solid foundation I could have every hoped for. The most important lesson he ever taught me was to surround myself with great people--then, cut them loose and let them go to work. And, he taught me that lesson without ever saying a word on the topic. When on shoots, I always keep one eye on Barry. If he woke up or quit reading for a minute, my radar clicked on. If he actually got out of his chair, I went runnning to follow him as that meant something was really about to go off the rails. (In all the years we worked together, he only got "out of the chair" twice.) Thanks Barry for taking a green kid under your wing and explaining to me that yes, sometimes a meal penalty is totally worth it! My condolences to his entire family, especially Alex--I've also had the great pleasure to work with her. Life comes full circle.

When I moved from New York to Dallas, Barry was one of my links back home. He definitely spoke my language. I felt very lucky that he produced every spot I did at TM. He was a blast to collaborate with, travel with, and always made our work better. He reminded me of a gentle papa bear looking over us making sure nothing went awry. I spent more time in Canada and LA with him than Texas. And, when he headed back to the Hamptons, I always thought how lucky he was to get the best of both worlds. RIP, Barry, you will always be in my heart! And my very best to all of his family.

somewhere in my house is a photo of barry on an AA shoot, circa 1995. he's wearing a trendy white cap with the huge word BOY across the front. the image is burnt into my memory because it made me so happy that day, just to look at him in that silly hat with his twinkly eyes and cheshire grin. barry was always the coolest guy in the room. such a calming presence and, well, just the BEST producer in all ways. i sorta can't believe someone as great as him could die--he's just that big in my mind. my heart goes out to everyone who loved him, but we are lucky people to have known him. he'd always say to me, "donna, you're such a donna!" and now my kids say it. so a barry-ism lives on in our family. of course, i loved him, too.

From Bates to Doyle Dane to Raver-Lisee (ouch) to K&E (really) to wherever-Datsun-was to McCann to Backer to Bozell/Temerlin McClain, with stops at Yamaguchi, Raoul's, Nick & Toni's, Lunch, Palms East & West, Dan Tana's, Musso & Frank's, les Deux Magots and the like; Tenafly, CPS, Bank Street, Hill Street, Treasure Island Drive, Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor (or vice-versa) and points West and South, Barry was client, colleague, boss, pal, drinking-and-not-drinking buddy, late-night scrabble (call Ron!) aficionado, discerning and sensitive adult, outlandish child and dear, dear friend. "Bright and dark, gentle and fierce, sure and unsure." Love and miss him.

I am saddened to hear we lost Barry Lisee. Barry was always so nice to me and I really liked working for him, making his travel arrangements and he always told me how he appreciated me going out of my way to make his life easier when he was on the road. I still have a few of his he brought me from his travels when shooting American Airlines spots, one of which is a beautiful scarf from Amsterdam. He also gave me my first gift from Tiffany's, perfume. And one gift I still treasure and is 23 years old, a beautiful blanket and pillow with cowboys and horses on it which he gave to me the day my son Logan was born. He produced some of the best American Airline commercials back in the day and was always a class act. Barry was one of kind. God bless you Barry. RIP

Barry had the most infectious laugh and he was brilliant combatting the Ernst Von Praag people. The more they world challenge something in a bid, the faster Barry would talk. Smart, fast and forceful, Barry prevented mediocrity from happening. I pulled him out of retirement to help me bid some commercials a few years back. We had a nice lunch together and talked about his daughter's wedding. Good times. Good times.

Like many of the others that have commented, I absolutely love this man. I travelled the world with him on several productions. He taught me so many lessons. And even gave me fashion advice. He convinced me I must buy a pair of classic black Robert Clergerie pumps (which he had to teach me how to pronounce it). I still have those shoes. And many fond memories of the coolest man ever. I'm humbled and blessed to call him my friend.

Barry taught me more about the ad business than anybody I have worked with over the last 30+ years. But more importantly, he taught me about humility, grace, and kindness. Something that is often missing in this competitive business. He will be greatly missed.

Barry produced my first tv commercial. And it was my first LA production. While we all out at the Beverly Hills pool, Barry left for a few minutes and came back. Suddenly--I was being paged at the pool. Of course being paged at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel was as Hollywood as you could get, something I would get a kick at-and Barry knew it,. As a writer/Creative Director, producer Barry taught me a lot about being a writer and a Creative Director. Rest in Peace, Barry. Tho I don't think that's what you will be doing.

One of my favorite people. My favorite line of his, especially when things were crazed on a project, would be to walk in and ask rather nonchalantly "Is anything ok?" Everyone misheard it as "Is everything ok?" and the joke would only be occasionally caught. Could diffuse any tension in the room with his calm and trusting demeanor. I always appreciated that he trusted those he was working with enough to let them do their thing while he read a book in the corner. In so doing he kept one hand on the wheel, while giving me one of my first real breaks in commercial editorial. He will indeed be missed.
