I knew Bernie from the Westside Y for the last couple of years. We discussed movies a lot; Bernie was an avid moviegoer, had incredible recall (for anyone at any age) and was an inspiration to me, not only because he proved one could stay youthful at an advanced age from steady excercise, but also for his love of life, family, and his encouragement to me to continue to move forward with my difficult showbiz 3-D career, no matter how frustrating or time consuming it would be. By coincidence, I grew up in the same neighborhood in L.A. that he lived in (Wilshire district) but we never met until a couple of years ago. The guys at the health club (Westside Y) will miss him as will I.
