Bert Johnson Obituary

Johnson, Bert Nils
September 8, 1920 - February 5, 2010
Bert passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Medical Center at the age of 89. Bert was born in Sweden and immigrated to the US through Ellis Island on his fourth birthday. He graduated from Manual Arts High School, winter class of '38. Bert served honorably in the US Navy during WWII. In 1944 he met his future wife, Claudia, at a Bank of America dance. Bert became a wholesale florist and was part of the floral industry in Los Angeles for over 70 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Florists' Exchange for 50 years.

Bert loved his family, the Lakers, crossword puzzles, travel, reading and investing.

He is survived by Claudia, his loving wife of 65 years and his two daughters Linda (Bob) Savitt, Kris (Alan) Duke, and two grandchildren, Michael Duke and Erica Nils Duke.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, February 10th at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, 10497 Wilshire Blvd.

In lieu of the line "in lieu of flowers", Bert wanted to remind everyone to send flowers for all occasions.
