Bonnie Lipton Obituary

Bonnie Renee Lipton died on 12/30/18 at age 76, surrounded by loved ones, at her home in North Hollywood, CA. The daughter of Morris and Belle Sedloff, Bonnie was born in LA and got a BA at Long Beach State and an MSW at Berkeley. For over 30 years Bonnie headed Social Services at Kaiser in Panorama City, where she fought to deliver effective services, often by redefining what those services were in the eyes of doctors, nurses, administrators, and patients themselves. A straight-shooter with a warm, easy laugh, Bonnie earned the respect of colleagues and the friendship of bosses and staff. To her, compassion and candor were the bookends of good relationships and good mental health. Bonnie is survived by partner of 25 years, Dan Obrion; sons Lowell and Ethan, daughter-in-law Rene and grandkids Max and Sophia; Dan's daughters Carrie and Stephanie and grandkids Emilie and Ava; brother Michael, sister-in-law Janice, nephews and nieces Brandon, Erin, Megan and Noah, and a legion of friends who made her life fun and meaningful. Bonnie devoured travel, books, art, films, plays & music. She liked time with her family, and a plan to look forward to. But what she enjoyed most was talking. A world-class listener and asker of questions, Bonnie's gift for being earnestly, deeply and playfully interested in others will be missed by all who loved her.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MEND or The City of Hope.org.

I will always fondly remember Bonnie as an effective and compassionate manager for the Social Services Department at Kaiser Panorama City. I worked at Panorama City too, for a little over 18 years, and could always rely on Bonnie for assistance with members asking for Social Services help. She was a true Social Services person who I looked up to because of her caring and professional demeanor. I feel privileged to have known Bonnie during my employment at Kaiser Panorama City. My condolences to her family.
