Calvin Roberts

1925 - 2021

May 5, 1925 - May 22, 2021 Calvin Roberts passed away peacefully from heart failure at age 96. He was the son of Anna and Harry Goldberg, and was preceded in death by his wife Dale Kleiger Roberts and by his daughter Leslee Blevins. He is survived by daughters Jolaine (Fred) Murrell, Perri (Jay) Rotella, and Dawn (Michael) Tudor, his nephew Richard (Judi) Bort, step-sons Ronald Kleiger, Frankin (Shizuko) Kleiger, and Lawrence (Julie) Kleiger, and several grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Cal grew up in Lincoln Park, NJ and graduated from Boonton High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, and was a tanker in the 34th Tank Battalion of the 5th Armored Division, which landed in Normandy in July 1944.After the war, Cal earned a BA degree in Journalism at the University of Alabama. and went on to a career initially in radio advertising sales. He joined Columbia Records in 1955 as a salesman and rose to Senior Vice President of Columbia Records and General Manager of Columbia Records Productions. Cal called his Columbia experiences, "the most wonderful 32-year career anyone could have."Cal and Dale were married in 1977, he retired in 1987 to Westlake Village, CA, and they travelled the world. Meanwhile, Cal joined Disctronics to head its sales organization. After Dale passed away in 2012, the Old Soldier lived independently in Westlake Village until his passing.Interment was at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on June 2, 2021.
