Carl Jones Obituary

Jones, Carl Laemmle
July 18th, 1919 - September 21st, 2010
Born in Tulsa, OK, Carl L. Jones was an entertainer, singer, and arranger. Attending Thomas Jefferson high, he sang with and arranged music for vocal groups named the Dreamers, Three and a half Nightingales and Plantation Boys. While attending LACC, he married his high school sweetheart while arranging music for Universal Studios in the early 40's. As first tenor of the international Delta Rhythm Boys, the group toured Europe in the 50-60's and recorded with Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and others. Notable recordings include "Dry Bones" and lyrics for Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train". He also recorded and performed with Japanese artist, Chiemi Iri. He vocal coached The Fifth Dimension, Sonny& Cher, Aretha Franklin and many others. As a Delta, HOF inductions are 1992 United in Group Harmony and 1999 Vocal Group. Survived by his wife, son, two daughters and five grandchildren. Funeral services are September 30, at 11:00am at McCarty Memorial Christian Church, 4701 W. Adams Blvd. Los Angeles.

I´m Carlos LaRue Jones . He was my Grandfather. Carlos Jones Jr was my father who also graduated at Langston University.I´m also Musician, Producer, Composer & Arranger. I signed with Macola Record Company in 1989
