Carol Rader Obituary

November 2, 1942 - March 14, 2022 Carol Joan Brown, daughter of Max and Sylvia Brown, passed away at home surrounded by family on March 14, 2022. Born November 2, 1942, in New York City and raised in Fair Lawn New Jersey. She spent her adult life in Grand Rapids, Mich., Diamond Bar, CA, and spent the last decade in Sun City, Palm Desert, CA, where she became a staple in the community. She is survived by her husband, Lew, her four children, Scott, Susan, Michael, and Robyn, her eight grandchildren, Matthew (deceased), Mark, Madison, Max R., Max E., Mackenzie, Merrick (her MnMs), Gabriel, and Sam as well as her beloved rescue dog, Bagel.
Carol was well known in Sun City. She was both socially and politically active in several organizations and clubs. She and Lew were always heavily involved in their synagogue and the Jewish community no matter where they lived. Carol had a strong passion for 50s music, gardening, and spending time in the sun. She was a fixture at the sun city pools, laughing, talking, and often lending a caring hand, open heart, and a sympathetic ear whenever needed, propping up others more than herself. She was selfless, drawing in people in with her unique personality blending confidence and strength with a rare dose of vulnerability.
She spent more than a decade at Century 21 Beachside working in both Huntington Beach and then in their Rancho Cucamonga office. She loved her job and her coworkers, managing day-to-day operations. Carol even had a self-created party planner role, ensuring everyone could come together in various ways to be a part of the Beachside family.
2022 was to be a major milestone year for Carol. In August, Carol and Lew would have celebrated 50 years of marriage. And in November Carol would have become an octogenarian.
From the time Lew met Carol until her passing, he will always remember her as his blonde bombshell, with the most beautiful blue eyes he had ever seen and the love of his life. Lew never left her side, devoting every minute to her for the last 50 years, sitting at her bedside for days until her passing.
As a wife, mother, Nana, cousin, friend, and confidant, Carol will live on in our hearts and be deeply missed.
Carol was laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City on March 16, 2022. Before her passing, Carol asked that In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider adopting a shelter pet or making a donation to Animal Samaritans in Coachella Valley at https://animalsamaritans.org/
