Cary Joseph MacMiller

1933 - 2022

October 24, 1933 - April 4, 2022 Cary Joseph MacMiller, resident of Encino since 1961, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. Son of Carl and Evelyn MacMiller, he was born in Hibbing, Minnesota on October 24, 1933, the second of four children. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1956 and moved to California where he worked his entire 36 year career for North American Aviation (later known as Rockwell and Boeing). During his career, he specialized in propulsion system aerodynamics and worked on many projects for both the Air Force and NASA. He met Kathleen Louise Maher in Santa Monica, CA in 1958 and they were married on February 24, 1961. They moved to Encino in 1961 which was their home and a special place for family gatherings.

Predeceased by his wife of 57 years and his siblings, he leaves behind 4 children; Cary (Amber) MacMiller Jr., Katy (Greg) Greenwood, John MacMiller and Jim (Alyssa) MacMiller and 9 grandchildren (William, Emily, Shane, Alex, Kirby, Ian, Wesley, Erin and Megan). During his life, he loved to ski, golf, play tennis and spend time with his family and friends. He spent many years giving back by volunteering for Meals on Wheels and teaching science at two local middle schools. He will be missed by all.
