Susan, Trish and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much Chuck will be missed by so many. I know that he is looking down on all of you and smiling, finally at peace after such a battle. Only his body lost the fight, not his soul. I believe he will be with you always.

I worked with Chuck at the beginning of our careers with the Dept. Though I didn't see much of him once we went to patrol, my memories are fond ones. My God help you with your sense of loss and grief and may he strengthen you so that your many memories bring you comfort in the days to come.

Dear Susan... Chuck and I were friends in West Hollywood where I was a patrol reserve for 25 years. When I designed the Memorial for Sheriff Block and Chuck supervised the construction, the Sheriff told the Under Sheriff that there were to be no changes or additions to the design and Chuck defended our concept to the end. Our names are on the back of the memorial and it is my honor to be there with Chuck... I will miss him... leo monahan

I am very sorry for your loss, Susan, we will all miss Chuck very much. I remember him coordinating the filming of the search warrant service at space Ordnance Systems. It was the largest Haz Mat warrant in the country. Avery professional individual. We will miss you.

My deepest condolences to you Susan and your children for the loss of a good man. I have known Chuck for many years in the early 70's at West Hollywood, through the years at the academy and during his assignment as sergeant over Media Resources. Chuck did have a good sense of humor, and many can remember some good laughs with Chuck. He was also always the consumate professional, doing his best for the department and those around him during his tenure on the department. I had most of my interaction with Chuck when I worked recruitment and later SIB. Our paths crossed frequently. I know he will be deeply missed.

To Chuck's Family,
I remember Chuck from the streets of West Hollywood in the early 70's. He was always the upbeat, smiling professional Deputy. His memory is still with those of us that enjoyed working with him.

Chuck was the supervising Sgt. of the Media Resources Company, S.R., at West Hollywood station, when I joined it in 1982, making the Officer Survival films. He was a good man to work with and always made it possible for us to get whatever resources we needed to complete an O.S. film.

I enjoyed working with him and am very sorry he is gone. My sympathy to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Chuck at the Academy back in the 70's. He was always a squared away Instructor that was highly regarded by his Cadets as well as his peers. Chuck had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. I have many fond memories of him and will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked around Chuck at the range many years ago. I remember the picture of him teaching a female to shoot, he was a good instructor. He will be missed.

I first met Chuck when I was newly assigned to West Hollywood in the early 1970's. In the early 80's Chuck was my supervisor and gave me my first job in a training capacity so he had much to do with directing my career. Chuck and Susan were good friends with Terri and myself and they traveled often with us. I will always value his friendship. On a morning when I was to have my prostate removed due to cancer, I walked into the hospital to check in and there was Chuck at 0630 to wish me well on my adventure. He was always there with advice and good humor and always gave me things to ponder in agreement or not. I will miss him visiting here in Florida, I will miss the traveling together, and I will miss the good character of Chuck Villanti.

Chuck was my Sergeant at Advanced Officers Training many years ago. Chuch was always fair and truthful to everyone he had contact with. Traits that are hard to find anymore!

My deepest regards to the family and all who called Chuck a friend.

December 31, 2009

When I first met Chuck he was one of those special Sheriff's Academy Staff Members who made difficult seem commonplace and the impossible look easy.He was an articulate, compelling and fascinating instructor who was consistently rated top notch by those who learned from him. Serious when necessary, but hiding behind his sharp, professional image was a great sense of humor! His fellow Academy Staff Members recognized him as a peer group leader and some one to emulate. Chuck made an outstanding contribution to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and to the thousands in the Law Enforcement Community at large.
His passing was too early and we'll ask Our Lord to welcome his Soul into his Kingdom and to ease the pain of the many friends and family members who now face the future without Chuck by our sides.
Kindest wishes,
Duane & Judy Preimsberger

Chuck was in my platoon in 1970 while we were part of Class #141. I remember Chuck as being full of life and extremely good-natured. He assisted me through the academy by his insisting not to take the whole thing too seriously. Although we never again worked the same assignment, I always followed his career. He will me missed.

My deepest sympathy to Chuck’s wife Susan, Children, family and friends. Was privileged to work with Chuck at the WHR All Purpose Range in the 70’s-80’s and he was a top notch professional and an excellent Weapons instructor. He was always spit and polished and even in the heat and inclement weather at the WHR APR he always looked like a poster boy for the Los Angeles Sheriff Department.
Chuck is probably holding a reunion in heaven with our fellow instructors who have passed on before us, JW Whitmarsh, Larry Ward, Ken Howland, Bill Burns, Bill Hunt, Bob Stevens, Bob Dyer and Ralph White.
The world was a better place during his time here and he will be missed by so many.
Sincerely, Don & Effie Kalberloh
