Cheryl Hebert Obituary

December 3, 1979 - March 17, 2021 Cheryl Lynn Hebert died on March 17, 2021 at age 41 in Santa Monica, California, surrounded by her family. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Tina Bottaro and Gary Hebert. Her family moved to Boca Raton, Florida at the age of two where Cheryl would spend days watching her dad in his shop, contributing to her exceptional skills with a hammer. One cannot discuss Cheryl without first noting her extreme intelligence. She was "the smartest person I know" for everyone who knew her. When Cheryl spoke, you listened and if Cheryl gave a recommendation, you followed. She received her B.S. from the University of Miami, achieved the highest possible score on both her LSAT and MCAT, and was offered scholarships from multiple top universities. Cheryl accepted a full ride scholarship to Georgetown Law School in Washington D.C., where she met her husband Chris Spicer. Their relationship began with Chris seeking study advice from Cheryl, and he never made a decision without consulting her again.Intelligence is wasted on many, but never on Cheryl. Hers was complemented by a passion for learning and an insatiable curiosity. One career wasn't enough to keep Cheryl's mind engaged. After graduating, she practiced law in Miami, went into banking in Dallas, was an entertainment executive in Los Angeles, and after going back to school for her B.S. in Nursing, Cheryl became a labor and delivery nurse in Santa Monica, all while dabbling in real estate on the side. She loved the medical field and held doctors and nurses in the highest regard. In her final days, she used her limited energy to order meals delivered for the ICU staff. She planned to explore the field of medical ethics as her next career move.Cheryl was thoughtful. She would often respond to questions saying "let me think about it" and would come back two days later with a thorough analysis. Cheryl was inexorably rational but suffused with sensitivity. She was selfless, always looking to enhance the lives of those around her, even at great personal sacrifice. She took to heart the problems of those around her and thrived in their times of need. Nobody stepped up like Cheryl in a crisis. She was equal parts unflappable and sweet.Cheryl saw everyone for their best qualities. Her nature was generous and inclusive. She loved to bring people in and to bring together disparate groups. She was matchmaker for numerous lifelong friendships. A consummate host, Cheryl's parties were legendary (as were her deceptively strong cocktails). Cheryl and Chris' weekend-long wedding in 2010 was one for the ages. After seven years of marriage, Cheryl and Chris welcomed their son Cameron Ray to the party. Cheryl spent four years watching him grow from a big precious baby into a sweet, strong boy. Like his mother, he is smart, generous and sensitive. He feels deeply, he showers his loved ones with affection, and he wants to do the right thing. His face would light up when Cheryl came into the room. Four years is far too short, but it was enough for Cheryl to sow in him a love that will be his guiding light for a lifetime.Cheryl is survived by her loving husband Chris, son Cameron, mother Tina, father Gary, sister Cristin, and grandmother Lucy. While I never met Cheryl, I knew her sweet mother-in-law adored her. It sounds as if they were perhaps “birds of a feather.” We have embraced Chris and Nick and their families and welcome them to our family. Prayers, hugs, and loving support are sent to you daily from the Hamiltons.

My memories of Cheryl span her lifetime. She ran around our yard in her diaper before her family moved to Florida, bringing smiles to everyone. And, if you were walking her in her stroller, her hand would shoot up and her exuberant "HI!" would greet every person passing by.
Cheryl took that happy, out-going nature with her as she grew into a beautiful woman and I would tell her Mom that "everyone wants to be Cheryl "....she truly had it all. Despite her many attributes, Cheryl never became aloof or snobby and included as many family members as possible into gatherings when she came back to Connecticut.
She shined her light on all of us and we now carry it forward as she lives on in our hearts forever.
Love you, Sweetheart ❣
