Colbert Fountaine
Fountaine, Colbert D. "Bud" California native born in Los Angeles on August 5th, 1919, resided in Northridge. Passed away May 16th, 2003 at age 83. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia "Ginny" Fountaine; son Michael Fountaine, daughter Suzanne Pelczar, son Gregory Fountaine, daughter Michelle Hedgecock, son-in-law Jim Pelczar; grandchildren Janette (husband Bryan), Geoffrey, Brian, Douglas, Thomas, Michael, Daniel, Sebrina, Rashelle, Samantha, Brianna "peanut"; great-grandchildren Calysta, Colton, Alanna, Tatiana; brother Alphonse Fountaine.
He served in the U.S. Air Force where he received the Purple Heart. He attended college at the University of California. He was employed with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department for 34 years (1945-1979) and retired at the rank of Commander. Dad, We love you, miss you and thank you for being such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. You brought strength, joy and laughter to our family and many friends. You will always be our "hero." We find comfort in knowing you are in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We will dearly miss you. Your Loving Family Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Baptist De La Salle Catholic Church at 16555 Chatsworth Street, Granada Hills, CA 91344. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheriff's Relief Association of Los Angeles County, 11515 Colima Road, Whittier, CA 90604.
