Daniel Lyon Obituary
February 7, 1948 - August 9, 2010
Daniel Roger Lyon, a gentle soul, died Monday. Born in Chicago, Dan was the treasured son of Dr. Shirley Lyon and the late Dr. Samuel Lyon, the cherished brother of Dawn Lyon and Wendy Lyon, and the beloved uncle of Joseph Mann, Amy Mann, David Wienner, and Jonathan Wienner. Dan was deeply loyal to his friends and family, and skilled and dedicated to his IT work. His mind was bright and questing and his sense of humor sharp and constant, even in the depths of his illness. He was an immensely caring son, and a loving and protective brother. Though Dan was a computer genius, he was happiest out on a quiet lake, fishing, preferably with his father. Reserved and quiet for the most part, he was the guy who treated his office-mates to doughnuts every Thursday, stayed behind the camera to capture every family event, and patiently guided his sisters through their computer woes, often for hours, long-distance. He was the family historian and geneologist, the imp who always hid, for a while, your jigsaw puzzle pieces, a man who endured brain cancer with dignity and without complaint. There is no one like him, and we will miss him, endlessly.
Dan's funeral will be at Mt. Sinai Mortuary, Los Angeles, at 1 pm on August 11. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to City of Hope Medical Center, Duarte, CA.

On behalf of Dan's friends, campers, counselors and reunion group acquaintances, the Camp Waupaca Reunion Group group sends its sincere condolences. We just read about Dan's passing and like so many others recall him as a gentle & loving soul. We know he cherished his time as a child at Camp Waupaca (in Wisconsin) and later in life created some wonderful video memories of his visit at a reunion 15 years ago. May his memory be a blessing.

Danny was my pledge brother at the U. of I. We did not stay in touch, but when ever we ran into each other in Chicago, it was great. He was a sweet guy. R.I.P.

I'll miss Dan. A friend since our earliest days playing flag football at Lincoln Hall and 4 years as my high school locker mate at Niles West. Whenever we saw each other, it was always like yesterday. My condolences to Dawn & Wendy and Dan's mom.

Dan was my "room mate" at UOP, and he ended up being more than a co-worker, but a good friend over the years! He had a special sense of humor that was rare! I will miss my friend! God Bless him, his sisters, mother, and family! RIP!!

My deepest condolences to the Family,
I was saddened to hear of his passing. I had the pleasure of working with Dan here in Anaheim, CA. He was a valuable asset to our facility. I will miss his crazy sense of humor and funny smile. He will forever be remembered.

I'll never forget Dan's dry sense of humor and perfect comedy timing and wit. Always challenging me with a good joke ... even if it was sometimes on me. I'm honored to have known Dan even if only for a brief time.
