Roberts, Easton Ray
Born 1913 in Boise, Idaho, to Alta Warner and Roy Ray Roberts, died July 22, 2003 at age 90 of leukemia. Easton moved with his family from Salt Lake to Los Angeles in 1921 and graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor of law degree in 1936. On March 4, 1938, he married his high school sweetheart, Miriam Hudson, and they were married for 62 years before her death on July 16, 2000. They raised a family of two daughters and a son in the home they built in Whittier. Their son, Andrew Jessup Roberts, preceded him in death December 25, 1992. Easton was an inventor and engineer. He designed and built equipment to do specialty jobs at his commercial sandblast business, often working for the government on machinery for the war. He later developed the VibraFinish company that deburred machinery parts. He was a founding member of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce and served in Rotary International for over 50 years. He served many years on the board of the El Toro Water District and was a faithful and enthusiastic participant in the U.S.C. Alumni Association and Delta Chi Fraternity. His favorite pastimes were playing golf, fishing, playing poker with the Delta Chi Poker Club, and transferring movies to video or DVD. When his health allowed, he enjoyed being a part of the congregation at the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Thomas Standlee of Reno, NV, Catherine and Joseph Sterrett of Myrtle Point, Oregon, and daughter-in-law, Donna Roberts of Fullerton. He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Jean Roberts of San Mateo, CA, cousins Jim and Pat Roberts, India and Bob Weatherhill, Pete Horton, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six nieces and nephews, and special friend, Betty Zander. The Memorial Service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton on Saturday, July 26, at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow at Morningside of Fullerton, 800 Morningside Dr. Private interment will be at Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude's Hospice.
