Ed Warren Obituary

WARREN, Ed Age 79, world renowned paranormal researcher and ghosthunter, of Monroe, Connecticut died on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at his home with his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine Moran Warren by his side. Born on September 7, 1926 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mr. Warren was half of the husband and wife team of "Ed and Lorraine Warren, Seekers of the Supernatural." The team was often asked to assist in numerous police investigations involving satanic ritualistic murders, and were in high demand by hundreds of colleges and universities to speak on the subject of the supernatural. Mr. Warren was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in both the Pacific and European Theatres. After his military service, Mr. Warren attended Art School and sold many of his paintings, mostly depictions of haunted houses and New England winter scenes. Mr. Warren and his wife, Lorraine, have co-authored ten books on the subject of the supernatural. Two of the books were made into made-for-television movies, "The Demon Murder Case" and "The Haunted". They were among only a handful of investigators asked to investigate the Amityville Horror Case, and were consultants on the first Amityville Horror film. Mr. Warren was one of only seven religious demonologists in the nation. Ed was also an avid animal lover and advocate, having rescued numerous animals over the years. When once asked if he feared death, Mr. Warren remarked, "No, I don't fear it, not one iota, I know I'll be going to a beautiful place, a place so spectacular it defies words. As Jackie Gleason once said, when asked the same question, "Why should I fear it?, I'm going to die anyway." In addition to his wife, Mr. Warren is survived by a daughter, Judy Spera and her husband, Tony of New Milford, CT, two grandchildren, Heather Valentine and her husband, Greg of Conestoga, PA and Christopher McKinnell of Lititz, PA, four great-grandchildren, Cory, Kyle and Brianna Denlinger and Michael McKinnell and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Stepney Village Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed's memory may be made to the Animal Center, P. O. Box 475, Newtown, CT 06470. Dear Lorraine,

My son David and I just heard about Ed passing over. I had you both on my mind the last few days very strongly. Now I know why. We send you our love and honor to have connected with the two of you in our lives. I wrote to you both and we talked by phone many years ago. Then We met in person briefly at your appearance in Carbondale, Ill College when you both presentd the wonderful talk on your work. Years ago you may recall I sent many pictures to you of my home and it was studied in your classes. You both wanted to come here one day because it is so positive and full of love, many angels. Our hearts go out to you and yes, Ed is in such a wonderful place of joy and pure love. God blesses you both eternally. We hope to meet you in person again one day.

Gram,

Over the years you have taught me many things, but nothing that compares to the last 5 years. You taught me the meaning of true love. Your unconditional love and care for Grandpa is unsurpassed. Others may say the words - but your actions speak louder than any words. I will miss Grandpa dearly but I know that his legacy will live on and I couldn't be any prouder of both of you. All of my love always.

Lorraine, it is with great sadness that I learned about the passing of Ed. I know that the bond between you and Ed is unbreakable. Ed is still with you and will always be with you into eternity. I can honestly tell you that Ed was my hero. And is. No baseball player, politician, movie star or billionaire will ever replace my wanting to emilate Ed. Fearless, serious, and a man with unbound love for those who needed him at the worst moments of their lives. And Ed seflessly stepped into danger just to help. And asked for nothing in return.

Ed is my hero. And will be into eternity. God love him.

Dear Lorraine, My heart goes out to you & your family. Ed will be missed by myself and my children, Mary, Michael, Joe, Lisa, Linda & Erick. I remember the 1st day we all met in the art barn behind your home. Mary had displayed a hidden talent and I brought her to you & Ed to be evaluated. The kids & I picked her up hours later and Ed told me there was nothing he could do for her. I said what! and he said she had a God gifted talent and he could only teach her different technique's and different forms of paints. I was just thrilled and she won 3 blue ribbons at the Monroe Fair 3 years in a row. Thanks to you and Ed. I will always remember that day and the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye. May God bless you and keep you in his hands. Love from all of us, you & Ed will always be a part of our lives and in our prayers. He is with the Lord. Jan Krosky/Craig

Dear Lorraine,

Ed has meant so much to us, as he has many people. I have more memories than Steve, since I had known Ed for over 40 something years. I can remember the days spent with him and my Sister--Judy.

When Steve came into my life, Ed was just as giving to him as well. Ed gave us with money to help with the expense of our wedding and every time he would come over to our house for dinner, he would always leave money hidden somewhere in our house . He loved helping and giving to people.

Your loss is a great one, as it is for my Sister Judy. You both shared the love of a good man.

Love & Prayers,

Lorraine,Tony,Judy and family - I was awakened early this morning only to be informed of the tragic news of Ed's passing. It is with a heavy heart that I write to you now to express my deepest sympathy and offer you and your family my most sincere condolences. Laurel and I were deeply moved upon hearing the news and we spent some time today reminiscing of all the good times we shared together. Ed was a good friend and mentor; many, especially me,learned much from his teachings. My only regret is that I was not able to see my friend again and shake his hand before he passed. This is a weight that I alone must bear. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for all of you. May the Good Lord Bless you and your family at this most difficult time and may Ed's soul rest in eternal peace.

Dear Warren Family,

I am so sorry for your loss.

My brother is a Catholic priest in the area, and when I would go to your presentations I would not only marvel at your subject matter, I would applaud your faith and respect for your religion. Ed was a man of great faith and conviction.

I hope the next days and months are eased by the realization that Ed believed in Heaven and was ready for it.

All my sympathies; you were a great team.

To Ms. Lorraine and family,

Words cannot express my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family in this time of sorrow. You and Ed are such wonderful people. Although I have never met either of you, your work in the paranormal has always been of such an interest to me. May Heaven welcome him with the warmth and compassion that he has shown others. You will be in my thoughts in prayers.

Lorraine, How sad to read your loving husband has passed. You and I spoke in 2003 after my 6 year old son Jensen had passed and you were shown a photo of his sister's first day of school, showing his presense, given to you from a reporter doing a story on us and then coming to interveiw you,Pat Tentabaulm. You brought such comfort to us.You spoke much of your husband and how ill he was, but your voice was so full of love and devotion. You of all know he is still very near. Love transends all dimensions.I am sure that all Ed has assisted from the other side were lined up to greet and welcome him.Tears of longing will fill your eyes but his love will always fill your heart.Smiles resume when we open the gifts they leave behind.Godspeed my friend

Ed was one of the greatest people I've ever known. He was warm, kind and had a wonderful sense of humor. His love for animals was widely known.I witnessed his compassion and extreme love for these wonderful creatures and enjoyed working with him and his wonderful wife, Lorraine, for this cause. He will be sadly missed by many people and I was proud and happy to have known him.Rest in peace, sweet one.You will never be forgotten.
