Edward Arthur Manley

1926 - 2021

December 25, 1926 - November 9, 2021 Edward "Ned" Manley passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, in Temple City on November 9, 2021 at 1:29 PM. He was 94 years old.

Ned was born on Christmas Day, 1926 in Montreal, Canada, to Patrick Sarsfield Manley and Leonarda Gallagher, the oldest of six siblings. After moving to Cleveland, he attended St. Agnes Elementary School and Saint Ignatius High School, where he graduated with honors in 1945 before serving as a military policeman in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan. After being honorably discharged, he married Bernice Taps and moved with her to California to pursue a singing career. In between auditions, Ned found steady work with Southern California Edison as an information analyst, where he retired after 39 years of service.

Ned had many passions. He loved to write and completed several novels. He believed in justice and was never afraid to intervene when he saw something wrong. He took photos and created puzzles. He also enjoyed sports, cheering avidly for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and telling fond stories of watching the Cleveland Indians play. Finally, he was a man of faith, serving as an usher at the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana and Saint Luke the Evangelist for many years.

Ned was a cherished brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He is predeceased by his son Michael and survived by his wife Antoinette Manley of Temple City, CA; his daughter Donna (Howard) of Otego, NY; his daughter Karen (Paul) of Las Vegas, NV; and his son Darren (Eva) of Covina, CA along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
