Edward Taub Obituary

1939 - August 9, 2024 Dr. Edward Taub, a beloved husband, father, pediatrician, author, and pioneer of wellness medicine, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, in Laguna Niguel, California.
He is survived by his loving wife Anneli, children, grandchildren, cousins, and his many other relatives, friends, and colleagues. He shared with them a reverence for life, compassion, wisdom, commitment to ethical living, and dedication to helping others.
Dr. Taub was born in 1939 in The Bronx. He attended Bronx High School of Science and then State University of N.Y. Binghamton. He attained his M.D. from Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, then completed his internship at U.C. Irvine and pediatric residency at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Taub established himself in the field of pediatrics with his brother Dr. Lanny Taub and physician partners in Tustin, CA., caring for over 20,000 families. He set out on a lifelong mission to help children and families achieve wellness through positive health and lifestyle choices. He founded the Wellness Medical Institute and dedicated his career to the field of Integrative Medicine. He authored eight books and served as QVC's on-air Wellness Medical Doctor, broadcasting to over 100 million homes. He collaborated with leading organizations such as the Harvard Mind Body Institute, PBS, and the American Medical Association, among others. His major integrative medical works can be found at http://www.edwardtaubmd.com/.
Later in life, Dr. Taub served as ship doctor aboard the Curlew, a historic schooner in Dana Point, where he developed the "Voyage to Wellness" program for local youth and others to sail and learn about health and wellness. Dr. Taub was at home at sea, having served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard and ship doctor for major cruise lines.
He enjoyed travelling with Anneli, walking with family and friends along favorite local beaches, and reading his daily newspapers and medical journals. He cherished sharing the message passed down from his mother: 'Love is all there is.' This sentiment captured the essence of his life's work and relationships.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to honor Dr. Taub's lifelong dedication to children's health and wellness consider donating to the Boys and Girls Clubs of South County at https://bgcsca.org/.

I´m so sorry for this loss. The world lost an earth angel.

I´m grateful I got to say goodbye. His words to me, "We´ll meet again in Heaven" are resting easy in my soul.

Dr. Ed was everything I wish every doctor would be. He asked, "How can I help?" He listened, he took action, and he actually helped. He reached out to old colleagues; and with a simple phone call or email, he found a way to get my daughter and me established with all the specialists we needed.
Within a few weeks, he was able to accomplish what I had been struggling to accomplish for nearly a year. He showed, through his love, how simple it can be to get our needs met, when people actually care.

I will be forever grateful for meeting and knowing this beautiful man, this mensch, this member of the righteous 36. I will be publishing a tribute to him in August 2025, on the one-year anniversary of his passing. He encouraged me to start writing on Substack three years ago and I think of him each time someone says my words were helpful.

Dr. Ed was more than our doctor, he was our friend. We loved him. We miss him. I keep the heart pin he gave us by my bed that reads, "Love is all there is."

One of the greatest compliments I ever received was Dr. Ed telling me that I reminded him of his mother.

Love you Anneli.
