Dear Arthur,
Jennifer told me this morning about Elaine's death, and I was so saddened to learn this news. What an outstanding person she was!! Although we didn't know her well at all, I now know how much she contributed her energy to so many worthwhile causes. I'm so glad the two of you had met, and spent some lovely years together. Please know that Bob and I are thinking about you at this very sad time.
Sending abundant love,
Dale and Bob

Dear Ones;
I am Elaine's Daughter-in-law, married to Wendy Robbins. From the moment I met Elaine 11 years ago, she was so welcoming of me into her family. When we announced we were getting married, she was so excited, she told everyone, "My daughter is marrying a woman!" She graciously referred to me as her other daughter and treated me like family.
Elaine was a passionate and composed advocate for social justice, an eloquent activist in the march towards equal rights for all people regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, culture or other differences. Elaine ultimately was about creating peace in the World, stemming from her own desire to find peace within herself.
She was so generous to Wendy and I, and allowed us to stay with her at her home in Bel Air for 6 months a few years ago, while we worked on a new business. When she met and moved in with Arthur after a year of dating, she invited us to stay with them whenever we were in LA. We spent many Thanksgivings and Holidays celebrating with Arthur, Elaine and his family too...While our hearts are broken over Elaine's passing, It feels like now we have an extended family with Arthur and his children.
Most recently, Wendy, Kim and I stayed at Arthur's after Elaine passed and grieved together and shared many fun memories we had with Elaine.

Some memories:

First meeting Elaine -her welcoming embrace
Elaine and Jack dancing at our Wedding
Her classy style of dressing and 100 plus pairs of black pumps
Elaine's love of over-ordering take-out food in LA: Chinese and Pizza, so many left overs!
Elaine loved white wine in the evenings after work
Her love of Rachel Maddow and how many times we watched together
Our many passionate conversations about politics and the democratic party, social causes and the need for peace in the Middle East
Her love of Kodi and many generations of Samoyed's
Her big hearty laugh, the same laugh that her daughters inherited.
Getting closer to her daughters Kim and Wendy especially in the last 10 years
Her love of the band, Pink Martini, which is so cool.
Invites to dozens of Plays, Music and Events
Our trip to Aspen where we hiked with Elaine and Arthur to Maroon Bells, a gorgeous mountain
Oh, and the meals....
All the meals at the Club on Mountain Gate with Jack and Elaine
Al the meals at Arthur's house with Elaine and Arthur
For all these memories, and so many more, I will miss you Elaine.
Thanks for being my 'other' Mom, and for caring so much about me, Wendy and sister-in-law Kim! Thanks for having two amazing daughters who will carry on your legacy for social justice and peace on earth!
Love and Memories,
Karen Paull

to me you will always be elaine the first- as an infant you spent time with your english cousin margot, my mum, who was in LA during WW2. you liked to think that i was named after you. maybe i was. i met with you both in israel and in LA. we shared a love of israel and a strong desire for peace. you became a wonderful role model for me- and you called me elaine the second.
now you are not there for me to share details of long lost family I have discovered in Tallin- that is so sad- after Uncle George you were the keeper of the family tree.
shalom elaine. rest in peace. my sincere condolences to your daughters and to Arthur.

A sweet moment with Kodi

Dear Kim and Wendy,

Even though your mom was not related to me by blood, she will forever be "Aunt Elaine" in my heart. I feel so blessed that we reconnected at Wendy and Karen's wedding after a 30-year absence and grateful that she so generously shared her beautiful home with me for a time, which allowed us all to get to know each other better as well.

With her vibrant spirit, warm-hearted nature and passionate social convictions, Elaine was truly an inspiring role model for many throughout her life. And that fiery passion lives on in her beautiful daughters, my amazing cousins who are doing wonderful things to make the world a better place.

May your memories sustain you during this difficult time.

I love you,
Teri

Dearest Elaine,

I have thanked you in the past and will always thank you for creating a publishing company with our dear Jack that was my publishing home for nearly 15 years. It was a distinct honor to work for and with you and Jack as well as with all the members of the Cherbo Publishing Group family - the exceptional administrative and sales staff and the brilliant editors and designers. Thank you for making it possible for me, for us, to do the work that we love.

I will always remember and be made joyful by your graciousness, your giving spirit, and your elegance.

To your loved ones, your circle of family and friends, I express my deepest condolences and wish you comfort and joy in the legacy and memory of this remarkable woman.

Warmly,
Liza

Peri and all,
It's with deep sadness that I remember Elaine who pushed me off my duff to complete a project after a two-year false retirement. At the time it was the best thing I could have done, and was made even better with Leslie's help.
