Elinor Thal Gibbs

1930 - 2023

September 27, 1930 - October 11, 2023 Elinor Thal Gibbs, daughter of Alfred Thal and Bertha Rigler, born in Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away at the age of 93 at the Los Angeles Jewish Home. Elinor left Bismarck to attend Northwestern University in 1948, marrying Seymour Budd Gibbs of Los Angeles, on July 14, 1951, and relocated to Los Angeles in late 1953. Elinor graduated from Northwestern in 1953 and received a Masters degree in Kinesiology from UCLA in the early 1970s. In partnership with her husband, she created her own business, The Clinic for Neuro-Muscular Disorders, and pioneered the use of bio-feedback in working with major traumas. She is remembered as an early civil rights activist in the 1960s. Elinor is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Elinor was recently buried at the historic Bismarck Jewish cemetery. A one-hour memorial service is scheduled at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, at 11:30 am on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
