Elizabeth Shapiro Obituary

Shapiro, Elizabeth Alice Feeney Stillwell Elizabeth Alice Feeney was born on May 25, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. She was the first daughter of William and Dorothy Feeney. Liz has two younger sisters, Colleen and Anna. In 1977, Liz became founder and president of the Neighborhood School Planning Corporation, which established a non-profit private school in Chatsworth. Liz spent the last 25 years as CEO of LAgraphico, a graphics communication business in Burbank. Liz was a tireless volunteer who donated countless hours to local philanthropic efforts. She served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank. Liz was also involved with RBI, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. This program combines two of Liz's primary passions, helping others and baseball. Her hobbies included baseball (particularly the Dodgers), needlepoint, trivia, cooking and the stock market. Her greatest hobby was her family and friends and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. Liz passed away far too soon on August 25, 2004 at the age of 57. If you had to sum up Liz's life in a single word, it would be "Love". She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Al Shapiro and her children, Anna Lasher, Vicki Shapiro, Sandi and Dennis Broad, Dan and Kim Stillwell, Tom and Julie Stillwell, Brandon and Cristina Gabriel and Summer Reeves. The joy of her life was her five grandchildren, Luke and Robin Lasher, Alex Hernandez, Spencer Broad, and Mathew Stillwell. Additionally, she is survived by countless others that call her "Mom" or "Grandma". Services will be held at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills on Monday, August 30, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank in her honor.

I attended the school Liz founded from 1978-1982 and what a wonderful experience it was. The steps she took to build this school from the ground up was amazing. I send my condolences to the entire family.

I worked for Liz from 1990-1994 at LA Filmco and it was a real pleasure to have known her. She helped create a great working atmosphere. She was a firm yet fair boss. I was saddened to hear about her death.

Liz and Al have had a very positive impact on so many people's lives. These good memories, especially of the time Liz and Al spent together with many of us at industry events, will help ease the sadness and sorrow we all feel.

With Deepest Sympathy,

August 30, 2004

Our daughter Jaclyn L. Alvarez played for RBI Softball 2002-2003(#45). We personally met Liz and Al Shapiro when they gave a tour of their business and took us out to lunch. We found them both to be very caring and warm. Our daughter Jaclyn was a victim of a tragedy her junior year of high school. Ms Shapiro was trully concerned. Our daughter will never forget Ms. Shapiro's words. That it doesn't matter how you meet your goals as long as your doing what you love. Our daughter would have never had the opportunity to visit colleges or play softball in so may places, if it wasn't for the kindness of the Shapiro's Our prayers are with you and all your extended family.
