Today, my life changed, forever. Ellen was a dear and beloved friend for so many years. This tragic news has left me shocked and speechless, as I try to understand the situation. I learned of Ellen's passing just today, simply by accident. We live in seperate cities, yet, always made it a point to touch base with each other, especially during the Holiday Season. I will miss Ellen's kindness, love, warmth and grace for the rest of my life. I know I will see her in the future, when God allows me to enter His kindgom of Heaven......God bless the Garvey family, Mrs. Garvey, Jane and Frank. I am so sorry for your loss........My thoughts and prayers will be with you always.
Peace!

Although I did not know Ellen well, I grew up and retain the many fond memories of the time spent with Jessica and Buck. Through our youthful friendship I got to know the Garvey family. I always respected the families warmth and strength. My prayers are with Ellen and rest of the family.

Ellen's gentleness and generosity are forever in my memory. I was so glad we could stroll the streets of her beloved NYC this summer, taking in MOMA with her astute eye, and lunch in the Village, recalling our times together in Washington, DC, the 40 years ago merely a twinkle in her eyes. My heartfelt love and condolences to her friends and family.--Al Church, GU Class, 1968.

Dear Mrs. Garvey and Family,
Ellen's passing leaves a hole in my heart. When Ellen returned home to care for her mother I was fortunate enough to spend some wonderful hours with them, attending events and fundraisers. Ellen had the gift of grace and had incredible patience and love. She shared this with all of us.

My condolences to family and friends of Ellen Garvey. She was indeed a very special human being – kind hearted, sensitive and caring. In spite of difficulties there was always a welcoming smile on her face.
I will certainly miss her and will always remember her as the gentle breeze of Malibou and Babylon. Time will heel the wound for all of us – such is life as defined by its inevitable end.

To Aunt Jane, Janie and Frank,
It seems like yesterday that we all played together in the big old shingle house.
It seems just a moment ago that Ellen, Jane and I attended school in Tarrytown, NY.
It has gone in the twinkling of an eye, but the memories are cherished.
Our Love and Prayers to you all,
Regina, Nate and Jean-loup
