Eric Ezra

Eric Ezra ("Ezra Sion Ezekiel Ezra") died in Los Angeles on June 24, 2021 at the age of 73. He was born in Mumbai, India, the first child of Naomi Moses Ezra and Ezekiel Ezra, both of whom predeceased him. Eric attended St. Mary's High School in Mumbai and studied economics on a full scholarship at Tulane University in New Orleans. Eric worked as a stockbroker during much of his professional life, primarily as a VP at Drexel Burnham in Beverly Hills, and later as an officer at various other firms. Eric spoke at least 6 languages and dialects, and was known as a proud, adoring father, and a great raconteur. He was beloved by many for his warmth, kindness, humor, dignity and brilliance. When asked by friends what he wanted for his birthday, he always replied without hesitation: "A Mercedes." Eric leaves two beloved daughters, Danielle Rothman Ezra and Jillian Rothman Ezra, and his former wife, Deborah Rothman, with whom he maintained a warm friendship until his death. He also leaves two siblings, Elias Ezra of NJ and Googie ("Grace) Tesser of NC, and their families, and loving friends all over the world.Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25th at 2 PM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 6501 East Gage Ave., Commerce, CA 90040.
