Evelyn Brockman Obituary

BROCKMAN , Evelyn
Passed away May 3rd just short of her 89th birthday on May 19th. She had been bravely fighting cancer for the last four years. During that time she lost her husband Robert, her brother Sam, and her sister Shirley and yet still fought on. This was not unusual for such a resilient and determined woman.
She was born in Montreal, Canada without much opportunity to pursue an education. Upon her arrival in California she completed her high school diploma and went on to graduate cum laude from UCLA. During her college years, she raised three successful daughters, Gail, Linda, and Kimm, and was the beloved wife to her psychologist husband Robert. In the late 1960s she continued her education and completed a graduate degree in social work from USC.
At 52, she began her work for L.A. County in the Department of Adoptions, where she brought families together and helped create new families. She continued to be a wonderful support to her ever-growing family that included Kimm's husband Richard Parker, her grandchildren, Ben, Jon Daniel, Rich, his wife Chalon, and her beloved great- grandchildren, Aiden and Neysa.
Evelyn loved people and made lifelong friends easily. She kept everyone entertained with her tremendous repertoire of humorous stories. We will all miss her but the heavens will be a great deal brighter with her loving presence.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2007, in the Eternal Light Chapel at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, 818-351-7161.
