F. Boettcher Obituary

Boettcher, F. Hal, Jr. Grandson of Los Ange-les pioneer Hermann Boettcher, died May 7th after a short illness. He was born in Los Angeles on October 31, 1916. He graduated from Page Military Academy in Los Angeles in 1931, Santa Monica High School in 1935, and Stanford University in 1940.
Hal served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Artillery Officer. On July 4, 1941 he married Georgia Murray, also from an old Los Angeles family. They had three children, George Murray Boettcher, Carole Sue Boettcher, and F.H. (Buzz) Boettcher III. Georgia died in 1975 and in 1977 he married Ruth Yurman who died in 1989. Hal Boettcher had a long career in the insurance industry in Los Angeles, starting at the California Fire Rating Board in 1946. In 1952 became a partner at Kuhrts, Cox and Brander Insurance Brokers and in 1959 was named Vice President at Bailey, Martin & Fay Insurance Brokers in Los Angeles. In 1968 together with long-time associate Willard Hayden of Pasadena, CA, he founded Hayden-Boettcher & Company, Inc. an insurance brokerage firm that continues to be operated by his daughter Carole. Hal Boettcher retired in 1977, and undertook a number of different projects until the death of his second wife, Ruth. In 1991 he came back to the Los Angeles area and worked with his son, George in his fire protection engineering company. In 1995, however, he returned to the insurance industry and worked with daughter Carole and her partner Kyle Custer at Hayden-Boettcher & Company. The firm now specializes in insurance for the household goods moving industry and operates under the trade name of Move-Pak Insurance Brokers. Hal Boettcher is survived by his three children, George, Carole, and Buzz, and by five grandchildren, Gregory, Jeanette, Michael, Logan and Sloane. Callanan Mortuary 323-462-2266
