Florence FINK Obituary

FINK, Florence Truitt June 12, 1927-April 6, 2013 Flo died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 6, 2013. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Anna and Albert Ginsberg. She began to make her mark as a dedicated school teacher at Sherman Oaks Elementary School. In 1977, along with her teaching partner Janie Block, she became a pioneer in the concept of magnet schools with the start of the Open Magnet School. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Burton Fink, daughters Lauren Wayne and Melissa Truitt, and her grandchildren, Adam, Eli, Daniel and Mollie. She is also survived by her stepdaughters Janet and Susan (Maria) Fink, and Elaine (Sam) Lowry. She will be remembered with love, admiration, and respect by her family and friends and hundreds of her students whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills at 10 am on Wednesday, April 10. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to either One Generation or Leeza's Care Connection.

If ever there was a woman of valor, it was Flo Fink. Her innate wisdom and grace impacted the lives of her family, friends, and students. Larry and I extend our condolences to her beloved husband, Burt, her children, grandchildren,and to everyone else who loved her. She made the world a better place and will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Barbara & Larry

My memories of Flo were that of a no nonsense, get the job done kind of woman. She had a strong wit and a twinkle in her eye with which she delivered her advise or opinion. I remember her compassionate heart. Sending love to Burt and family. Amber
