Frank Clayman-Cook Obituary

January 6, 1942 - July 9, 2021 Dr. Frank Lenord Clayman-Cook, aka Frank Cook, jazz, blues, and rock and roll drummer, manager, record producer, and then a revered clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, passed away at age 79, at home in Marina del Rey, CA, close to his beloved wife, Dorothy. Frank was born in Boyle Heights, CA, and raised in Brentwood. He had been a professional drummer, manager, and record producer until age 37, when he acquired the last few credits he needed to graduate Cum Laude in Philosophy at UCLA, and went on from there to obtain three Doctorates. An honored, loved and respected psychologist/psychoanalyst, he also taught at several institutions, including The New Center for Psychoanalysis. He married Dorothy "Dotti" Karlstein in 1997. As a result of Frank's search for a teacher of Cuban dance, he was referred to Dotti, and a grand love story began. Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy Clayman-Cook of Marina Del Rey, his stepson, Laurence Karlstein of Venice, and his brother, Louis Cook of Palm Desert.
