Frank Swann Obituary

Swann, Jr., Frank Frank was born in St. Louis, Missouri, December 16, 1912. Attended Law School at the University of Illinois. After graduating he went to New York and became a model for illustrators, including Bradshaw Crandall. He also acted in a Katherine Cornell show on Broadway. A talent scout saw Frank and he was signed by Twentieth Century Fox Studios as a contract actor.
He received acting training, and was Coached by Maria Ouspenskaya, a Russian Actress. He appeared with John Wayne and Marlene Dietrich in "Seven Sinners". In the 1940's he left movies and resumed his Law Practice. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy during World War II. He was with the units that helped free the Philippines from the Japanese. He also was in the WAR Shipping Administration in California. After retirement from the Navy he worked for a legal firm, and then went into private practice. It was a general practice, and personal injury trial work. After retirement he moved to Maui, Hawaii. He was a resident of Maui until the year 2001. He had three sons, Bruce, David, and Frank III, with his second wife, Nan. He also has a sister, Virginia Lee Wolford residing in Bellevue, Washington. He passed away in Los Angeles from Pneumonia.
