Freda Rosen Obituary

October 31, 1928 - September 18, 2016 Freda Rosen, a resident of Beverly Hills for more than 50 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18. She was 87. Rosen was born Freda Laulicht in New York City in 1928, the eldest of three children of Dan and Sadelle Laulicht, though it was her aunts Ethel and Rose Flashenberg who really raised her. Her brother and sister predeceased her. She played blonde bombshell Rita Wedemeyer in the June 1956 episode of The Honeymooners, "Alice and the Blonde," among a host of other modeling and stage acting credits before giving up acting to raise her family. She and her husband, comedy writer Arnie Rosen, moved from New York to Beverly Hills with their three sons in 1965. Arnie, who won Emmys for The Phil Silvers Show and The Carol Burnett Show, passed away in 1980. Freda earned her Bachelor's degree at the age of 65 and her Master's degree at 67, counseled couples and individuals for a decade afterwards, and was an active volunteer for many years at The Maple Counseling Center of Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles Free Clinic. She is survived by her three devoted sons, Jim (Nathalie) of Los Angeles, Andy of Austin, Texas, and Don (April) of Beverly Hills. She was the loving grandmother of seven (Hailey, Corrie, Amanda, Estella, Melina, Teddy, and Emily). She will also be fondly remembered by her best friend for more than 50 years, Adele Nadel, her companion in recent years, Janet Alvarez, and numerous friends and relatives on both coasts. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Freda's name to The Maple Counseling Center, 9107 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Services were private.

Just finished watching The Honeymoons episode, " Alice and the blonde". Freda was so beautiful and sexy. I was so impressed that she went back to college and got her Master“s degree at 67! Remarkable woman. May she rest in peace.

Incredible to finally meet the real-life "Rita Wedemyer" ("He certainly is a treasure"). You will live on in that iconic role, but it is evident that long afterwards you continued to maintain an active and fulfilling lifestyle. God Bless and RIP.
