George Barkin Obituary

March 12, 1928 - December 17, 2020 George Jean Barkin died on December 17, 2020, at his home in Valley Village CA. George was born on March 12, 1928, in Boston MA, the son of Bertha and William Barkin. He attended Boston Latin School and he earned a B.A. and M.A. from Brandeis University. He was a writer, editor, and computer programmer, and he loved to read and travel. George is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine Radoff Barkin, as well as three devoted sons (Victor Barkin and his wife Patty; Jesse Barkin and his wife Summer; Gabriel Barkin and his wife Janna), five grandchildren (Nathan Barkin, Travis Owen, Emily Barkin, Tanner Barkin, Amaya Barkin), and three great-grandchildren (Emmett Barkin, Zia Owen, Ayla Owen). We will miss George's warmth, humor, intelligence, and generosity. In lieu of flowers please send donations on his behalf to a food bank of your choosing.
