George D. Pena
September 16, 1944 - January 9, 2021 George Pena passed away on January 9th from COVID 19 in Encinitas, CA. George graduated from Montebello High in 1963 where he earned Athlete of the Year and was active in student government. George went on to play 12 years of professional baseball, starting with the Los Angeles Angels organization. In between baseball seasons, George earned his college AA degree and served in the US Marine Corps Active Reserves. George is survived by his former wife, Anita Williams and their two children, Rene and Ryan, along with his sister Linda, brother Greg and their families. George loved his Pena and Guerrero family dearly along with all his friends. Our memories of George as a champion on and off the field will live with us forever. Condolences to all of George’s family. I saw him play for the NY Yankees AAA team in Syracuse,N.Y. He was a great player,and also very fan friendly.I remember him being at a baseball clinic at MacArthur Stadium.
