Giorgio BALDI

BALDI, Giorgio Of Malibu, CA passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the age of 66. He passed peacefully while on vacation in Mexico. Until Monday, Giorgio had overcome with courage and strength various battles with cancer over 20 years. Giorgio Baldi was born in 1944 in Forte dei Marmi, Italy, a beautiful town on the coast of Tuscany. After spending the early part of his life there, he moved with his family to Los Angeles where, in 1990, he opened "Giorgio's" restaurant in Santa Monica Canyon with his beloved wife Roberta. From the start, Giorgio sought to reflect his admiration of the food and lifestyle of his hometown of Forte dei Marmi in every aspect of the restaurant. Giorgio also made sure the restaurant was a family affair, with Roberta and his son Eduardo helping to cook in the kitchen and his daughter, Elena, managing the front of the house. Giorgio took great pleasure that they were always near him and at the end of each evening he could often be seen enjoying a glass of wine and dinner with his loved ones at a table in the corner. Over the years, he developed great friendships with customers from all over the world and he will be missed by many. His legacy at the restaurant will live on as it continues to be run as he had liked by his wife and children. Giorgio is survived and dearly missed by his wife Roberta, daughter Elena, son Eduardo, son-in-law David, and six dogs. A service is planned for Monday, April 18th at 1:30 pm at Saint Monica's Church in Santa Monica. Donations in his honor should be made to the Hope for Kid's Department at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
