Love and miss you...

November 14, 2014

It's been 5 yrs. I can't believe it son. I miss you so much. Christopher is doing well. You would be very proud of him. A after you left he was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I had to learn how to give him shots and count carbs and sugar.he is very brave.like his daddy. He asks me to tell him stories all the time. The other day he wanted me to tell him about a time you surprised him. I told him about the time you took him to Toys R Us when he was very small and came home with half the store!!!!! He laughed, and he still has some of the toys. Hulk boxing gloves that roar when you punch someone!!!!! Well it's coming up on your Birthday my darling. You'll be 35....yikes....I love you dearly and can't wait to see you again. Miss those killer Hugs...talk soon...Love Mom

To my lil brother Glenn, I am so happy that you made it Homie! I love you and will miss you untill I see you again. You were a hard nut to crack but I know that we have a victory for Christ. I remember when we talked a day before you passed, and you sent me a text saying "I am a Christian, Brother!" I am so glad that we were friends and will not forget you. To all of Glenn's family, Rejoice because "Goldie" is gone to see the King. "Now you can rest"

November 12, 2009

Sandy, Glenn, Kim and the family members,

There are no words that can express how much we will miss our dear Kortney. As I've read these wonderful memories about my nephew, I can see his handsome face and picture him doing all those things. Yes, the statement "gone too soon" is true, but we know one day we will see him again.

Our precious family cirlce my have fallen prey to the overwhelming loss, but our hearts will always cherish the wonderful memories we have of him, and on those days when we find our hearts missing him, we know we can lift our eyes to the hills and gain strength (Psalms 121) and comfort.

Our love and prayers are with you.

Love,
Riece and Phyllis

Dear Family,

It was not our pleasure to have known Kortney but some of the same blood ran in our veins. Your family in Austin and San Antonio extend our heartfelt sorrow and condolences at Kortney's untimely death and your great loss. Please know that we love you and are asking that God's tender mercy and great comfort will surround and bless you for the painful journey ahead. Just know that God is able and his mercy endures forever. Our prayer is that Kortney has found favor with God and has been shown the room Christ went ahead to prepare for all those who know and love the Lord. May he be among the saints surrounding God's heavenly throne forever. We love you.

Our hearts go out to your entire family at Kortney's passing.
He's in God's hands now and he's safe. So long ago, I remember those beautiful eyes from out time that we spend at the lake and then later in Las Vegas as I sat next to him at dinner.

Kortney~ May you rest in peace baby!

Kim, Sandy, Kara, and all the rest of your family I am so sorry for your loss. I know Kortney is in a better place and I know you guys are all at peace with that. My memories of Kortney will always be with me for ever as they will all be with you forever too. The last time I saw Kortney was the last time I was in Cali about 10 years ago for Sandy's Birthday party on the boat and Papa & Nina were there too. So I have that memory that I will hold forever in my heart of all of you togheter as a family partyin it up. I remember that like it was yesterday, Kortney had corn rows in his hair and Papa was just as cheerful as ever. I had him a bit stumped though cause he would always call me slim, but SD did a number on me and I was not so slim anymore. LOL! I will miss Kortney and Papa vey much, your family was a HUGE part of my life and I am mourning with you all right now for your loss. Kortney you will be missed by your big sister. We will all see you again someday. RIP baby boy RIP. Lia Michelle Valdez ( Kimberly's best friend) I Love you baba!

A 4 year old kid with big blonde curls, a robust tan, and the most gorgeous face you ever wanted to see. I can see an old photo of you with a towel tied around your neck as you flexed your muscles and pretended to be a super hero; with your older cousin Steven by your side.

Oh how you all would play from the front yard to the back. And then we would all load up and go out to the Terrell City Swimming Pool. You were such a brave little man. You would jump from the highest diving board, and swim like a champ to the ladder so that you could climb out and do it all over again.

When we would talk to Aunt Sandy and tell her all of the things that you were doing at our house, and all of the swimming you would do, she would say..."Isn't Kortney a good swimmer?"

We enjoyed & loved you Kortney--as a 4 year old, and as the handsome young man that you grew into. Our hearts are saddened, and our heads are bowed. However, we know that we shall find peace in knowing that JOY, UNSPEAKABLE JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING. THAT YOUR SOUL LIES IN THE COMFORTING, LOVING AND PEACEFUL HANDS OF GOD.

As you walk into Heaven, please give my daddy (Herman, Jr.), and our PawPaw (Hurmon, Sr.) a great big hug.

Aunt Sandy, Uncle Glenn, Kim & family--we love you, we are praying for you, and we lift you up during this time of bereavement.

Love,
Felicia(Furlough), Tiana(McCowan) & Kirsten (McCowan)

I thank God for the memories of Kortney I was able to share. I would have liked to have had alot more. Unfortunately God had a different plan. We know and trust God doesn't make mistakes. So, we will miss Kortney beyond words. My deepest sympathy to Aunt Sandy, Uncle Glenn, to his son and siblings. Our hearts are heavy but his soul is set free. I hope we can all find peace in knowing there will be no more pain, no more confusion, no suffering but sweet rest. God bless his soul, we love you Kortney!! Alaundra Furlough

Kort-fort,

I know you have been kissed by Paw Paw (Hurmon Furlough, Sr.) and been able to get a hug from Daddy (Herman Furlough, Jr.). The rest of us are saddened by your departure, but we take comfort in knowing that you are resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

I remember those summers when you and Kim would come to Texas and spend some time with us. One of the funny things we (Aunt Gwen, Felicia, Tito, Tiffani, Forrest and Steven) will always remember is asking you what you wanted to be when you grow up. Your response (at age 4-6) was, “I want to be a frog." We would laugh uncontrollably. I will reminisce on this and other fond memories and thank God for sharing you with us these 29 years.

Aunt Sandy, Uncle Glenn and Kim we are praying for your strength, and encouraging you to continue to remain faithful.

We love you all,

Tito, Tony, Justin, Jaren and Dorian

My dearest Special K!

My first reaction was to call both phones just to hear, "I'm chillin neice."

I'll never have another uncle like you, at least not in this lifetime. When I got laid off, you offered everything under the stars to make sure me and the kids were good. Even provided an opportunity for me to relocate to Cali with you. You were frustrated that I declined everything, but two independent souls very seldom understand each other!

You showed me that a family bond could be established without having been around someone for YEARS. In the last 6 months, you developed a greater understanding of who I was as a person than people who had been around me for two decades.

Mondays were usually our weekly entertainment briefing days lol, since I can't hear your voice..I'll just ask Jesus to pass my weekly "Love U Man!!" Every now and then, I'd throw in the inquiry about relocating to Dallas. It never occurred to me that Heaven would be your next unpredictable move.

Gone too soon in my opinion...Mission accomplished in God's eyes.

I love you Uncle K!
